Our Story - Summer holidays 2005

There is a lot of painting to be done, not the nicest job in this hot weather.

The doors and windows will become green, except for the inside of the kitchen door. It will be blue, like the shutters.

More and more the house looks like what we originally had in mind. The biggest metamorphose will be the stucco works, but it will probably only be in two years.

Also the shutter under the kitchen roof is replaced and painted blue./p>

We make a removable shutter for the back door.

The wall that is left over in the living room gets laths that are painted green.

The plaster board is cut in the large barn.

For walls we use 13mm plasterboard, the boards for the ceilings are 10mm thick. Plasterboards in France have twice the size of those in Holland: 120 x 250cm, which makes them quite more difficult to handle. It is something important to bear in mind when you by your trailer!

We decide that it is too much work to keep the French ceiling. We thoroughly treat the rafters with anti-insecticide.

Then we mount a steel structure for plasterboard.

Also some of the walls are covered with plasterboard. We sometimes loose almost 10 cm because of sloping walls.

Of course we do not forget electricity.
All power points require a grounding cable, which is different from Holland. Power points for light have to be grouped.

We hide the water heater

We hide the water heater behind walls. The frame is made out of wood, which is more easy when you have to make an angle.

When the plaster board is in place this part of the house is almost ready.

Quite a difference with February, when we became owners of the house (look at the top right picture).
